Author William (Bill) May is a person we'd all love to have as a friend and neighbor. Serving in Law Enforcement for over 30 years and as the Chief of Police of a small town - Townsend, Massachusetts. Bill was cross-trained in emergency medicine which certainly helped him to serve his community, including saving lives.
"Once Upon A Crisis" is not a book about detailing gruesome stories, although like me you may also feel the deep sadness or be angered by the tragedy Bill has experienced first hand. This book was written to pay honor to all those that were taken too early and by such violence. It is a tool for those in law enforcement and all the other first responders that witness the worst there is in our world and yet continue to serve.
Bill takes us behind the scenes and deep into his existence seeing the faces of the fatally wounded, both young and old.
You will hear In my interview with Bill as well as read about it in his book, that there is a pain and memory that never goes away. As Bill says, "no delete button in our brains!" He has however found a method or way if you like, to remember those victims in more peaceful ways. He opens his soul to take you deep into his feelings and understand his pain as well as the happiness and love he found by serving others.
Reading "Once Upon A Crisis" is another tool to to help those like Bill move forward after being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress. He expresses his concerns for those who try to "deal with it" on their own and encourages the reader to seek help. While speaking with Bill he made it clear that at any time the memorise can and will haunt you or even cripple you.
